Del Rio - Continental Ranch II - 300 W Nicholson St. All day, informative ranch tour, including famous petorglyph site (ancient rock carvings), to historic fourth-generation Continental Ranch. Custom tours can include birds and wildlife in their natural habitat, native desert plants, prehistoric rock formations, and a beautifully scenic undeveloped area of Pecos River. Fort Stockton, Texas Living Desert - An enhanced nature trail displays plants of the Chihuahuan Desert. Plants have been labeled providing information on common and scientific names. Improved trail begins near the Guard House at Historic Fort Stockton; 300 East 3rd Street. Free.

Fort Stockton, Texas Wildlife Viewing Area - Six miles north of Fort Stockton on FM 18. The Texas Highway Department has provided for off road parking (no other facilities). Take your binoculars and bird books with you. Site adjacent to the Diamond Y Nature Preserve; a property owned and managed by the Texas Nature Conservancy (914) 336-7615. Free.

Tour the Franklin Mountains at the Franklin Mountain State Park, in El Paso County! On the 1st and 3rd weekends of each month, tours are conducted by State Park Rangers to either Aztec Caves or Cottonwood Springs (tours alternate on Saturdays and Sundays.) Fees for the tours are $4.00 ($2.00 entrance fee and $2.00 activity fee.) People interested in taking the tour (s) should meet at 9:00 am at the entrance to Franklin Mountains State Park on the West side of Trans-Mountain road. Reservations are required. Hueco Tanks State Historical Park is located about 32 miles east of El Paso and ranch road 2775, just north of US 62-180 (Montana Avenue inside city limits), in El Paso County. Activities include: birding, amateur astronomy, rock art: (2000 - year old Native American pictographs); Also, hiking, world-class rock climbing, picnicking & nature photography. Special Events: Free rock art tours/pictograph tours/Bird identification tours/slide show presentations. Times and dates vary: call for details. (915) 857-1135.
