You will find music and other diversions at The Center for Arts & Sciences. The largest shell collection in the south can be found in the Museum of Natural Science, and in the Art Gallery there are beautiful paintings and sculptures featuring local artists. A gift shop is filled with souvenirs, books and clothing to provide something to remember your visit. In addition, theatrical productions are held at the Center Stages Theater on many evenings. Watch the stars and galaxies in the Planetarium and explore the Nature Trail. Golf enthusiasts will be excited to know that many wonderful courses are located within fifty miles of Clute the hub of Southern Brazoria County. Clute is also well known as the home of the "Great Texas Mosquito Festival," with Willie Manchew, the festival's mascot, standing 30 feet tall welcoming warm-blooded humans to the fun event. The Festival is held annually the last Thursday, Friday and Saturday in July.
"Gordon", a 250 pound grouper, finds his home in a large tank at Sea Center Texas. You can see him and many small hefty underwater creatures here, as Sea Center is a combination saltwater fish hatchery and aquarium. Sea Center also offers an array of souvenirs in their gift shop.
