July 2-6, 2008 - SPORTING EVENT - Freeport: 61st Annual Freeport Lions Club Fishin' Fiesta. This is an annual fishing tournament that normally last 5 days. Includes horseshoe pitching contest, washer pitching, queens contest, VIP dinner, carnival for the 5 days at the park. We are working with Texas parks and wildlife to have the coastal expo present this year. Each fish in the tournament pays $700 for 1st, 2nd is $200 and third is $100 plus plaque. July 3-6, 2008 - SPORTING EVENT - Port Aransas: Deep Sea Roundup. Oldest fishing tournament on Gulf Coast. This tournament features activities for the entire family. Categories consist of Bay/Surf division, Offshore division, Piggy Perch contest for children, dinner and dance. Time: Registration on Thursday, 2pm-10pm. Cost: Entry fee for anglers. July 5-6, 2008 - FESTIVAL - Rockport: Rockport Art Festival. Central to coastal Texas' Independence Day celebrations, Rockport Art Festival is a well-known art town's juried fine arts festival that hosts 125+ artists hailing from across U.S. In a tented atmosphere adjacent to Rockport Center for the Arts, it is snuggled up to Aransas and Little Bays and Rockport's Harbor and Beach Park. Includes artists' demonstrations, specialty foods, live entertainment, special shopping, and hands-on art activities for children. July 10-13, 2008 - SPORTING EVENT - Port Aransas: 73rd Annual Deep Sea Roundup. Sponsored by the Port Aransas Boatmen, the Deep Sea Roundup is the oldest fishing tournament on the Gulf Coast. The proceeds from the Deep Sea Roundup are the primary source of funds for the PAB's scholarship fund. Associated with the tournament is a dinner and dance. We hope you will sign up for the Deep Sea Roundup, and find out what great tournament fishing is all about. Time: July 5 Registration begins 2pm, ends July 8 with Awards at 1pm.
