The Texas Festivals & Events
Association is the official state chapter for Texas and New
Mexico of the International Festivals and Events Association
(IFEA). Founded in 1982, TFEA is a privately funded, non-profit
organization that serves the unique needs of festival and special
event organizers and suppliers throughout Texas and New Mexico.
Our mission is "To educate, promote and strengthen the
festivals and events industry in Texas and New Mexico."
Festivals and special events are ardent contributors to the
social and economic landscape of Texas and New Mexico. They
promote community fellowship, encourage family interaction,
and maintain our rich and diverse cultural heritage. Additionally,
these events pump millions of dollars each year into local communities
and contribute to the thriving prosperity of Texas and New Mexico
TFEA is the voice of the Texas and New Mexico festivals and
special events community. We provide broad membership programs
that include educational development, networking opportunities,
marketing programs, a mystery shopper program and legislative
support. Following is an overview of TFEA membership benefits.
Regional Workshops and Annual Conference
Each July, TFEA hosts its Annual Conference, a three-day meeting
that provides professional and volunteer event organizers opportunities
to master current industry issues. Past topics have included:
sponsorship, alcohol risk management, marketing, media relations,
auctions, working with local government, merchandising, working
with volunteers, insurance and festivals, strategic partnerships,
emergency management plans, children’s events, understanding
the Americans with Disabilities Act and booking local and national

Development seminar that presents in-depth insight into a particular
industry issue. All Conference participants meet with suppliers
one-on-one at the Annual Conference Trade Show, and throughout
the schedule there are many occasions to network with other
suppliers, event organizers and entertainers, including the
Talent Showcases – a unique forum that introduces event organizers
to top industry talent.
TFEA members are invited to enter the Annual Marketing Awards
competition, a celebration of the best and brightest marketing
and PR campaigns in a wide range of categories. Winners are
announced at the Annual Conference along with the prestigious
Professional of the Year and Volunteer of the Year awards.
Mystery Shopper & Mentor Program
Often the best way to get a fair evaluation of your event is
to gather opinions of other event experts. TFEA’s Mystery Shopper
program offers a variety of ways to obtain feedback. TFEA members
visit your event incognito and provide you with a confidential
review of your event. In addition, TFEA’s Mentor Program allows
new event professionals the opportunity to shadow a festival
expert during his or her event and get a unique “behind the
